Summary. A watching brief was carried out on seven 1.2m-deep test-pits which were dug by ground engineers in various locations at Colchester Garrison in Essex. No archaeologically significant features were observed. A residual fragment of Roman brick was recovered from modern topsoil in woods adjoining Somme Road.
