Summary. One evaluation trench was excavated at 15 Rawstorn Road, Colchester, Essex. No features of archaeological significance were recorded. Modern disturbance was encountered down to 550mm below ground-level, the ground having been deliberately made up before being used as a builder's yard. Agricultural soil which had accumulated over many centuries was encountered below this level. This soil extended to at least 1.5m depth and may seal Roman features which survive beyond the limit of the excavation.
