Summary. An evaluation by trial-trenching undertaken by the Colchester Archaeological Trust at 26 Springfield Road, Great Dunmow, Essex, produced a small quantity of finds of later prehistoric, Roman and post-medieval date from a soil layer which sealed the natural geology. No archaeological features or deposits associated with the Roman small town were identified within the evaluation trench.
