Summary. An archaeological evaluation by trial-trenching was carried out in advance of the construction of a single storey building in the garden of Blatches, Stortford Road, Little Canfield. Blatches historic farm complex is comprised of a timber-framed listed building (no.1097453) of 16th century date with other associated outbuildings. It is also located close to the Roman road of Stane Street. A modern service trench, postmedieval/modern pit and two natural features were identified and recorded.
