Summary. Archaeological monitoring was carried out at The Bell public house, The Street, Purleigh, Essex after a gas pipe trench had been excavated to the north of the pub around the northwest edge of the car park. Work was associated with extensions to the public house, relocating the car park and constructing new storage. Despite being located in an archaeologically-sensitive area, no significant archaeological remains were encountered.
