Summary. An archaeological evaluation (one trial-trench) was carried out at land to the rear of 3 Guide Post Cottages, Stanway, Colchester, Essex in advance of the construction a single-storey dwelling with associated parking. Despite being located in an area of significant Iron Age, Roman and post-Roman activity a single undated tree-throw was the only feature uncovered during this evaluation.
