Summary. Archaeological monitoring and recording was carried out at St John’s Green Primary School, Abbey Field, 5 Circular Road East, Colchester, Essex in advance of the construction of a two-storey extension to the rear of the school with extension of hard surface play area. The development site is located within a site of considerable Roman archaeological deposits which were excavated in 2013. Despite being located in an area of archaeological interest, no significant archaeological features were uncovered.
