Summary. An archaeological evaluation (two trial-trenches) was carried out at Colchester County High School for Girls, Norman Way, Colchester, Essex in advance of the construction of a new school building. Two Roman pits, a Roman ditch, and an undatable pit, were uncovered. As during previous investigations conducted at the site, there was no trace of the triple-ditched dyke purported to run through the grounds of the school.
