Summary. An archaeological evaluation (three trial-trenches) was carried out on land adjacent to 8 Upland Road, West Mersea, Essex in advance of the construction of three detached single-storey dwellings with a new access road, fencing and landscaping. Despite being located in an archaeologically-sensitive area, only a modern pit and a natural feature or treethrow were uncovered.
