Summary. An archaeological evaluation (one trial-trench) was carried out at Standish, Ivy lane, East Mersea, Colchester, Essex in advance of the construction of two detached dwellings. The site lies near the remains of a Bronze Age barrow, cropmarks of two ring-ditches and a possible enclosure, and two 'red hill' prehistoric salt production sites. Despite being located in an area archaeologically-sensitive area, however, only a medieval or post-medieval pit was uncovered.
