Summary. Archaeological monitoring was carried out at Southway Roman church,Southway, Colchester, Essex, during renovation groundworks and the erection of an interpretation panel. The Southway Roman Church is a late Roman apsidal building, located immediately outside the south side of the walled part of the Roman town and in vicinity of the Butt Road cemetery. Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered during the works.
