Summary. An archaeological evaluation (one trial-trench) was carried out at 32-34 Barrack Street, Colchester, Essex in advance of the construction of a small block of three flats to the rear of the property. The development site is on a road with rich medieval history, and is close by to a medieval hospital, church and chapel. It was found that a substantial quantity of modern infill had been used to level the ground, and consequently no significant archaeological levels were observed.
