Summary. Archaeological monitoring was carried out at Duchy Cottage, Dedham in advance of an extension and alterations to the property. Dedham is a medieval town with Anglo-Saxon origins, and the development site is very close to St Mary’s Church, which dates back to the 15th/16th centuries. A redundant soakaway, a similar brick pit, and two modern pits were noted.
