Summary. An archaeological evaluation (one trial-trench) was carried out on land north-east of Church Green, High Street, Essex, in advance of the construction of a new dwelling. The site lies within the historic core of Stock, in the midst of numerous historic buildings. A possible Iron Age enclosure and possible Roman cemetery are situated to the east. Despite lying in an archaeologically-sensitive area, however, no archaeological remains were encountered.
