Summary. Archaeological monitoring was due to be carried out at 24 St Peter's Road, West Mersea, Essex during groundworks for a new garage. The development site lies to the west of the medieval Church of St Peter and St Paul, near to the purported location of a now-demolished Benedictine priory and in an area of known Roman occupation. Despite lying in an archaeologically-sensitive area, however, no archaeological remains were encountered.
